UPDATED: Gamepro reveals first batch of Mortal Kombat DLC characters

While the game is about three weeks away, the may issue of Gamepro magazine reveals that the first batch of DLC characters hitting the game post launch will consist of three characters:

Kintaro: The massive MK2 sub boss. Much like Goro, Kintaro is a four armed shokan warrior who serves the emperor shao-khan.

– Kenshi: The blind swordsman, who was first introduced in MK deadly allaiance. Kenshi is a noble warrior who was tricked and then blinded by the sorcerer shang tsung. Kenshi can be seen fighting in the background of the pit stage.

– Lady in red: While she has no official name yet, a red dressed female ninja has been rumored to be in MK since the days of MK2, fans called the non-existent character Skarlet, others called her Ruby. The lady in red can be seen in the shao khan coliseum stage seen below:

Until then, how do you guys feel about these 3 characters? Keep in mind if you favorite warrior did not make the cut, that there will be other characters available later for DLC.

UPDATE 3/27: Netherrealm’s own Hans-Lo, confirmed to CVG, that both Kenshi and Scarlet will indeed join the fight as DLC characters:

Hans-lo: ” They won’t be copy and pasted from characters already in the game – they’re going to have their own unique fighting styles, moves, fatalities and x-rays – all the good stuff.  Anyone who knows the history of Mortal Kombat will tell you that back in the days of the arcade – when they did just palette swap characters to come up with multiple fighters in the game – there was a glitch in one of the old arcade machines that caused the Jade/Katana/Milena female ninja to glitch and turn red.

People always thought it was a hidden unlockable character and it wasn’t, it was purely a programming glitch. They’ve always speculated and in fact it was the fans who named her Scarlet to begin with. She’s no longer a glitch – she’s an actual character, and she’ll be coming pretty soon post-launch.”

When asked about the gamepro article (scan above), game producer, Hector Sanchez, responded by the following tweet: ” I get sad when I see articles that post incorrect information. 🙁

This clearly confirms that Kenshi and Scarlet are going to be the first DLC, while the Kintaro information is definitely false. Our sources indicated that Kintaro is indeed in the game as a boss and is not a DLC.

Update 2: When asked about why are these characters are DLC  instead of being available from the get go,Game creator and producer, Ed boon,  through his twitter, had this to say: ” DLC characters are NOT on the disc”
